Claim Your Planet
Fitting in is something most of us struggle with at different points in our lives. We keep searching for a place to fit and forget that we could build one. Yes, you can create a place that you feel good. That might be a sanctuary in your home, a garden in your yard, a camping spot in the woods, the top of a ski hill, a recreational sports team or a corporate culture.
Imagine the Possibilities
A big part of finding a place where you fit involves an alignment of core values. If you’re around people with vastly different core values you’ll struggle to connect. It’s those connections that give us the sense of belonging.
The Pony Friday Values
Every brand has values and we’re no different. We function our best when we can see eye to eye, but even when we disagree on what needs to be done we still agree on four things. Here’s the break down of the four most important Pony Friday values:
Behave Boldly. Step beyond your comfort zone. We believe in pushing each other and ourselves. It’s always best if you’re pushing yourself the hardest, because sometimes getting a push from the outside can be unexpected.
Be Authentic. Why be anything other than you? For us this is about integrity and honesty. It’s about being true to ourselves about what we believe and where we want to go. As a company we want to go places as a team and have room for all the personalities in our mix. We talk a lot about what our individual interests are so we can be authentic in our tasks.
Bring Enthusiasm. If you aren’t pumped about it go do something else. Seriously! Be jazzed up or go home. Yes, we all need downtime and no, we can’t be happy all the time—but there is a time and place for being a grump. You don’t want to wear your grumpy pants to your planet.
Go All-in. Commit to your quest. Having one foot on your new planet and one on the old one is going to make for some interesting acrobatics. You can’t fully appreciate what can be until you’re willing to let go of what is. Let bygones be bygones.
Change won’t Happen Overnight
Keep chipping away at it and focus on your reason for wanting something better. If you never give up, you’ll get there eventually.
