Changing your life takes effort. Not once or twice, but continual effort in the same direction. It takes a lot of energy to be in motion and to sustain it, which is way less than the alternative.
Stop. Go. Stop. Go.
Getting started requires more effort than staying the course. If you take more than a break, and allow yourself to be distracted from your goals, you end up wasting a great deal of your energy on starting again. There are many hurdles in the way of getting started that disappear once we're making progress.
Baby Steps Count
Chipping away at a project can work well, but when you have to choose between the tortoise and the hare just remember who wins the race. Slow and steady. And as Confucius said:
“It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.”
Breaks are Important
You need to recharge yourself and go at a sustainable pace or you'll burnout and have no choice other than to sit a few rounds out. Know what's reasonable for you and focus on your achievements, however small they seem in the moment.
Every little bit adds up.
