The Playful Side of Work
Monday doesn't have to suck. That was written with a straight face. We're serious. Monday morning doesn't have to feel any different than Friday afternoon. Yet it does. As a collective, we hate Mondays. It's all optics. Let's change our perspective.
Hold the Cheer Parade
No, we aren't suggesting you take out your gratitude journal and start listing all the ways Monday has been good to you or go skipping down the halls like Pollyanna. Let's just not carpe diem mañana, let's do it today.
Now is a Good Time
Right now you're at the start of the week and this is as good of a day as any to sink your teeth into moving your dreams forward. That's really the only way to get where you want to go. Little by little. Inch by inch. Step by step. A thought perfectly worded long ago by Colin Powell:
"A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work."
Oh yes, hard work. That unpleasant term we like to shy away from when it comes to cleaning our houses, doing the dishes and shovelling snow. Thankfully building our dreams isn't a repetitive task that resets itself like the examples listed.
Chipping away at a dream is more like learning to ride a bike, building a treehouse or painting your room—there is a permanent change that comes along with it. Even if that change is only on the inside, you'll never be the same again.
You decide what you look forward to. We're glad Monday is back, we've been missing it for six whole days. Wink-wink, nudge-nudge.
