You've Got Pony•tential
Potential is one of those arbitrary things that everyone is born with in seemingly unequal doses and is one of those things that everyone likes to speculate about until you’re well into middle age. You have it and have to use it or it expires and then you simply had it, which is the worst. So, if by chance you didn’t amount to much by a certain age, you’re said to have wasted it. Yes, you can waste something you didn’t even fully comprehend having; your potential.
You were born with your share!
Too bad you didn’t appreciate it. People like to throw potential in your face because somewhere in their imagination they were able to speculate a bunch of outcomes and decided the one you should achieve if only you would apply yourself. We’re big on applying yourself in the direction of your own dreams, not someone else’s.
Don’t let anyone else decide for you.
Your parents and teachers definitely had their opinions of how much probability the future held for you and how bright and wonderful it could be. It’s possible a few of the adults even secretly made bets about whether or not you’d amount to anything. And maybe you’re a late bloomer and they’ve tossed in the towel too early.
We’re all predestined for greatness!
There are kings and queens throughout history who have made a mega mess of their opportunities and then there are individuals born impoverished that seem to conquer the world. It’s time to crush the idea that you did or didn’t have huge potential. You do—and besides, it really doesn’t matter. At this point you have to assess what you’ve got to work with and decide if you’re content to let this week pass you by or whether you’re ready to roll up your sleeves and make things happen. Potential be damned.
Fate is waiting for you to start.
You might not believe in fate, a greater power, serendipity, the universe or another powerful spirit, but you must have noticed that luck shows up more often for the go-getters. And even if you did believe in such things, you’d likely agree that destiny and fate tend to avoid lazy people—they favour the bold. Potential is something we all have an spades, but ignore until it's too late. It’s better to be hustling your butt off and get noticed for what you’re actually doing, instead of giving people time to fantasize about who you might have been.
