Even Magic Isn't Magic
Magicians work extremely hard to master the art of distraction and sleight of hand to manipulate and entertain crowds. It's not magic, it's mastery. Much like anything you become a master at in life, there will be a point where everything you do begins to look easy. That’s the power of hard work, not magic.
Hard Work is Magic
Nothing can slow you down like laziness. The laziest people will look at the hard work you’re putting into your craft and decide that it isn’t for them, because it’s too hard. Then later, they’ll see you’ve mastered your craft and it will look simple and effortless, which will make them say things like, “well that’s easy for you” and “must be nice to be born with that kind of talent.”
The Apprentice Hides
When we don’t know what we’re doing we try to find safe places to practice. That means that many failures take place behind closed doors so that other people never see them. Can you imagine seeing a magician practice? It would give away all the secrets to the tricks and you’d never enjoy another magic show again. That would be a drag. No matter what your craft, you’re likely making every effort to always put your best foot forward and only show the most polished version of your work publicly. It’s not magical to you, but it is to everyone else.
Keep Making Magic
When you commit to honing your skills on a daily basis you’ll be surprised at what you can accomplish over the long haul. It’s always the focus on today, this week, this month or this year that tend to get us down. Don’t allow where you’re at today or where you can get to tomorrow discourage you. Focus much farther down the road. Practice your tricks for the long game and then wow them with your magic!
Remember, we're all making mistakes.
