Be true to your values even when it's hard!
We all do it on occasion, shrink ourselves in certain situations in order to stay out of the way or avoid conflict. It might be done out of politeness or in an effort not to ruffle feathers. And maybe in that moment it seems like the right thing to do—or maybe it's a behaviour we've been conditioned to do.
Showing up fully helps everyone around you.
Imagine if you saw a world leader (think of one you respect) taking a slight half-step back and allowing their country to get the short end of the stick because they felt uncomfortable. We'd find that crazy and completely irresponsible. Social channels would light up with comments about their lack of strength and leadership. We expect more from them because they have demonstrated they can stand tall in the storm. That’s how they got to where they are.
Standing tall in the storm is attractive.
Now, image you decide to be the type of person who stands tall and leans in, no matter what. You're the kind of individual others can count on to be strong despite the unpleasant moments life throws your way. You get to decide who you're going to be.
You decide who you are at any given minute.
There is power in your choices. And you can choose to be authentic to your core values or you can allow the world to push you around. The world will bully you if you let it. Don't let the world treat you poorly.
Tell us how you've stood up for your values in the comments below. Sharing your moments might just encourage someone else to do the same today.
