Maybe you don’t know how to be B.O.L.D.!
What the hay does it even mean when we suggest that you “behave boldly” and encourage you to chase your dreams? What does bold mean? To us it’s an action word, it’s a word that pushes your bravest inner spirit to step out into the light and be seen. And to break it down for you we’ve sectioned each letter of the word bold into four easy steps.
You can see it as an action plan:
- Believe — you've got this
- Overcome – mental hurdles
- Let Go – the crap that's holding you back
- Do It — don't let anyone stop you
That's the fast list on what you need to do, but we're going to break that down a bit further. No, we're not going to write a long meandering essay on each, you don't have time to read that sort of thing today. Reading for hours might be your favourite form of procrastination and we aren't going to enable you. Let's get to it.
Your dreams aren’t going anywhere if you don’t believe in the possibility of them coming true. Think about all the things you’ve brought into being simply by starting to believe you could have whatever it was you wanted. And if that’s too hard, you can start by thinking about all the achievements other people have created by starting with the belief that they could achieve them. Take this famous Henry Ford quote to heart:
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can't—you're right.”
A tiny step today is worth more than two steps next week. It’s like compounding interest on your investment in yourself. Always invest in you on a daily basis. You can take that to the bank of the universe.
This one is a doozy. It holds you back like having your feet stuck in sticky mud. You’re paralyzed by the hurdles in front of you, both mentally and physically. The mountain is too high and treacherous, the training is too intense, your mind can’t take it… yet you must. You must overcome your obstacles to free your dreams from the confines of fantasy and bring them into the light of reality.
Did you know that you can redefine yourself at any age? You can stop playing the role that society is pushing on you and you can change directions. Heck, you can even let go of things you used to think about yourself. Maybe you’ve being identifying as a shy individual for twenty years only to wake up one day and realize that it’s not even true. It might never have been true.
Whatever is in your heart that you want to have or achieve, make it happen. Nothing replaces action. If you aren’t in action your dreams are as good as gone. You might as well toss in the towel and start crying yourself to sleep at night wallowing in self pity because you won’t do what is necessary to get where you want to go.
Wanting is not Enough
You must get past the wanting and the thinking and get to the doing as quickly as possible. Behave boldly! It’s as easy as 1-2-3-4, just B-O-L-D yourself into action!
