Leave Time for Magic
When we're making new stuff—logos, graphics and product designs for ourselves or our clients—we always allow time for creative magic. Without time for magic we just end up with good enough, which is sad and boring. Boring doesn't sing it's own song. Design needs to stand on its own and be able to attract attention.
Sleep on it!
You’ve likely heard this expression before and might have used it a time or two. With the fast pace we anticipate at every turn it’s important to know how to slow things down. Slow your thoughts down, give your subconscious brain time for the information to sink in. Think it over a few times and then think it over a bit more. Then don’t think about it and come back to it with fresh eyes.
Fast Means Bad
We recently saw a business offering a 24-hour turnaround on a logo design. This is something we refer to as the slap-chop, it’s fast and you get what you get. In this case it's not a "get what you pay for" it's a "get what you wait for" situation. Your logo is your brand image, it’s the everyday face of your business and whipping something together says a lot about the value you place on your company. On the rare occasion you might get something incredible quickly, but that’s like winning the lottery—you shouldn’t count on it.
Our Case of Magic
This past weekend we launched two new shirt designs and a new hat for Calgary’s Pride in the Park. It was our first time participating in a Calgary Pride event and it was an incredible experience. We felt the community love and had our most successful pop-up to date, which meant all of our hard work is starting to pay off. Plus, we’re getting better at knowing what our customers want and how to deliver it to them in the best way possible. We can’t wait to support this event again next year.
This Week at Pony Friday
We’re off to another market in Calgary. Spruce Meadows is hosting the Masters this week and we’re heading to the event ground today to set up our pop-up shop in the Equi-Plex to be ready for the crowds tomorrow through Sunday. Please check our Facebook page for more details on times our booth will be open. You may have seen us there last year, but this time we’re in a new location.
